Another Thought on Twitter

Have you ever looked at Twitter and how some people have like, 1,000,000 people following them and they're following like 20 people?

It's another huge popularity contest. To look cool on Twitter, you should have more people following you than you're following. It's all in the word following I think.

Well, I'm the opposite. I'm following way more than are following me. Wanna know why? Because I'm nosy. The more people I'm following the more conversations that I'm not technically invited to I get in on.

What about you? Are you a cool twitterer or a nosy one?

Totally uncool Twitterer (and first-time commenter here - hello!), but I like the way you spin that!

LOL--I have no idea who over half of my (of 13, I know who 5 are) followers are. You're one of them--yay! Following links to the unknown's profiles, they appear to be spammers of some kind (their web pages are business pages I have no interest in), but I don't know how that would work necessarily. Do they think I'll reciprocate their following me?

I don't Twitter, but I thought you might want to know that Catherine Delors (author of Mistress of the Revolution) blogged a quick post about Blogger Appreciation Week! I thought that was great! You might already know that, but just in case you didn't. . . :-)

Have a great weekend, Amy!

I must be totally uncool, since I don't twit at all. Too much of a time sink for me.

I'm a nosy twitterer.

I follow about the same number of people that follow me, but they're not the same people. I don't know 17 of the 33 people that follow me, and I follow 32 people that I know, even if I only know them through the blog world.

Guess I'd have to say I'm nosy, too, though. My life seems kind of boring, I do the same things day in a day out. It's fun to see what Carlos, Brody and Mark Lee do day in and day out... ;)

Oh, I am oh, so cool. I have almost twice the number of followers as I follow.

Of course... I only have, uh, 7 followers...

but still, that is one amazing ratio I got going there!

How funny, I was just thinking about this today. Me? I'm totally a nosy twitterer. Isn't it great peeking into other people's lives?

OK, how uncool am I because I don't Twitter? I'm afraid to know what it is . . . it might suck me deeper into the online black hole!! I read your post twice -- through Bobbi's Book Nook and then Reading Riting and Randomness. Very funny! But I feel the same way because I have about 30 blogs in my feedreader and since I just started my own, have probably only family and friends reading mine. What a follower I am.

Oops! Sorry -- I was testing out my previous comment and I'm not sure how to get my name to appear with a link. Oh well. see -- I'm obviously new at this.

Good point on all the spammers. I don't follow them either. And I do follow everyone who follows me that's not a spammer.

Euphrony..well, ever since I discovered twitterfox it's much better. it just sits there at the bottom and pops with new stuff. it's actually a fun way to get to know people better...I know, I know, I resisted for so long!

I'm just glad I'm not the only nosy one! :)

Coming in a little late to this conversation, but just found your blog this weekend through BBAW (thanks!).

I have become hopelessly addicted to twitter, and I do follow far more people than follow me. You could call it nosy, but I prefer to think of it as "intellectually curious" :)

Seriously, I've lerned so much and have met so many great people since I've been tweeting, that I don't know what I would do without it.

Now I have to go find you and follow you! My twitter name is my full name, squished together.

Ann,
That's what my twitter friend said! She said I wasn't nosy I was learning. She said the "cool" people were snobs. ;)
