January Non-Fiction Read: Justice in the Burbs

Yay! I'm on target with my New Year's Resolution! For January, the non-fiction book I read was:

Justice in the Burbs: Being the Hands of Jesus Wherever You Are by Will and Lisa Samson

I've been wanting to read this forever, but I have a very busy reading schedule, as you may well know. So, with my new resolution firmly in place to read at least one non-fiction book a month, I thought I would ease in with this small but appealing book.

It still counts as non-fiction even though Lisa wrote an accompanying story as an illustration....it does!!!!

Anyway, this is a great little book. Essentially, it's a great starter book for living justly. They discuss their own personal journey to realizing Jesus called us to live with concern for others, they discuss some of the objections and fears associated with living a life of justice, and they give some practical ideas of how the simple everyday choices you make affect others, and thus encourage you to live a life of justice right where you are.

I read Lisa Samson's blog regularly (though she hasn't updated in awhile) and would also recommend Quaker Summer as a stellar piece of fiction that creeps its way into your heart and thought processes.
