Monday Blues

Apparently, my students have decided it's not necessary to show up today. I've spent all afternoon opening the door and peering out into the lobby to see if they're here yet. Which they're not. I'm not sure where this revolt is coming from, this sudden, no need to go to reading today attitude, but I spent all Friday afternoon bored as well. My supervisor is off to some sort of seminar and can't be reached. Meaning, she can't chase down the people not showing up. That's about the most communication we have in any given day. I call her and report that someone's not here. She'll say..."What the hell?" and immediately page them. For some reason that I haven't figured out yet, I'm not supposed to page them myself. I think it has something to do with not looking like the bad guy.
So instead, today, here I sit on the blogger wondering if the company remembers just how much they're paying me.....
Oh and I'm working on a massive blog, and reworking it. Something that's been bouncing around in my head demanding expression. Maybe it'll show up, maybe it won't. We'll see.

Maybe this will cheer you up.... Yesterday (monday) I was training a new cashier, and her name is....................................................................PRINCESS!

HA HA HA HA! I walked in and my manager told me my trainee was waiting in the breakroom, and he had this crazy grin the whole time he spoke to me. So I clocked in, and went to the breakroom to meet this person. I held out my hand for a handshake, and said, "I'm Jen, and I'll be your trainer for your first two weeks." And she says, "I'm Princess; nice to meet you Jen."

It took much self control to keep a serious face and not to ask, "What?! You're a Princess? Oh, uh, your NAME is Princess. Sorry..." and force a sheepish grin. No, I was cool and calm, and said, "Well, Princess, let me show you around and then we'll fill out your paperwork." What a night! And it will be a fun two weeks introducing her to the rest of our 200 employees!!!! Can you even imagine?!

That's funny about the Princess! You know Paris Bennet? The American Idol contestant? Her real name is Princess Paris Bennet. She mercifully goes by Paris, though.

And to my Amy, what you described is so my job every day. Except that I sit on blogger, hoping that the company doesn't remember that they pay me. And that they consider a raise. ;-)

Hi everyone!

Well everyone has shown up today, making my day delightful.

That's way cool about the person named Princess. It brings a whole new meaning to Daddy's little princess. ha. :-)
