The Halfway Mark!

Amazon beat us all, as usual, in their overachieving ways by posting their best books of the year so far a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't even going to do something like this, but I figured reflecting on the year so far might help me at the end of the year...

Also it's like a holiday week and I enjoy having fun.

There is no point in talking about the best books of 2012 as I haven't read very many books that were published this year. But I can say what books I've enjoyed reading the most this year. And it's actually really hard because while I'm reading so much less than usual, I'm enjoying what I'm reading so much more.

So here goes are the books I've loved reading the most:

Irises by Francisco X. Stork
How to Save a Life by Sara Zarr
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Jellicoe Road by Melina Marcheta
Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
Small Damages by Beth Kephart

They are ALL YA. I don't know what's going on. I have enjoyed some adult fiction titles but nothing that made a huge impact on me...you know where I was like omgggggg I LOVE THIS. I actually have some thoughts on the possible why of this but....I'll save them for later.

That's just books though!

In the land of TV, I fell in love with the Danish show Borgen, it has been by far the best thing about TV for me this year. I love it ridiculously. I also enjoyed Switched at Birth, The Walking Dead, and The L.A. Complex. And some other stuff, too, I'm sure but that's what springs to mind. I'm realllly looking forward to the Summer Olympics, though! Oh and I've been enjoying watching Avatar: The Last Airbender for a first time, and will save some of the why for that same post about why I think I might be enjoying YA more.

For movies...I've been to a few this year, and most of those experiences were fun, but not necessarily life changing. I think my favorite movie experiences this year have been stuff I've watched at home, Whip It, Sucker Punch, Martha Marcy May Marlene, and even Amador.

Music...I can't even talk about because I haven't acquired much of anything new. I am, as always, open to your recommendations. Lately I want to listen to peppy upbeat stuff, or as always, the singer/songwriter stuff.

How has your year been so far? Best book you've read? Best movie you've seen? Best album you've listened to? How is TV treating you?

Amy
