Faith 'n' Fiction Saturday: Reader's Choice Awards!

Hello! New to Faith 'n' Fiction Saturday and wondering what this is all about? Read this post to learn everything you need to know!

The Christian Lit Blogosphere covers quite a diversity of books as the genre itself continues to expand. Quite frankly, I think there need to be more Christian Book Awards and so I'm going to use Faith 'n' Fiction Saturdays to launch some internet based awards for the best in Christian Lit!

I need your help! Today's task is to help me brainstorm the necessary categories. Don't put your nominations down yet...just the categories of awards you'd like to see! (for example, historical fiction, Romantic Suspense, etc.) We can have some and different categories as well... we won't take ourselves too seriously.

I need your help! I really want these awards to mean something, so in addition to your participation today, can you please help spread the word? We want as many people as possible to be involved. So here's what I'm looking for today:

1) Categories you'd like to see
2) If you want to help with behind the scenes organizational stuff.

Thanks everyone...let's have fun!

I hope you get lots of participants and ideas today :)

Have a great Saturday!

I don't read a lot of Christian fiction but I wish I did. I did read a cute mystery one a few months ago (kind of Janet Evanovichish) -- so I don't know if that might be a good category. I also have read a few Chick Lit ones that I've enjoyed!

And of course, you know I love a certain someone's books that I consider Romance.

I am not a Christian Fiction fanatic, not by choice though. I am waiting for Julie Lessman's book to arrive though from your recent giveaway (TY!) so that will be a jumping off point. I say this because I am not sure how to help with suggestions, as I am not qualified.

I know how to dabble in Paint Shop Pro for graphics.. as far as making simple tags/labels for Awards. So if you need help with that stuff I'd be happy to help.

Please include a fantasy category. Or a speculative lit one.

I don't know what others are saying, but I think these would make good categories:

Best Romance
Best Historical
Best "Edgy" Title
Best "Traditional" Title
Best Main Character
Best Hero
Funnest Secondary Character/Sidekick
Best Amish Title
Best Contemporary
Best Comedy
Best Tearjerker
Most Inspirational
Best Sequel/Series Installment

Ok, that's more than I thought I'd be able to come up with! I hope they help you out in deciding categories!

Amy, great idea. I can do my best to help you anyway that I can be of assistance.

A major category should be: Not Preachy. Most readers enjoy CF that is not preachy at all but still delivers God's message.

I forgot to mention that I'd be interested in background organizational issues.
