The Olympics...Will You Be Watching?

I have a slew of books set in China to read to put me in the right mood for watching the Olympics, but I'm still a little conflicted about the whole idea of the Olympics being in China. It will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.

Generally, I like to watch the gymnastics, swimming, and track and field events. How about you?

In recent years, the ratings for the Olympics have started to decline. It's kind of too bad, because the idea of so much of the world joining together in an event is kind of special. And who doesn't enjoy all the fascinating human interest stories that emerge?

Will you be watching any of it this year?

(I was in Japan during the last summer Olympics and was surprised by how different the coverage was...a lot of judo and ping-pong!)

I was in St. Lucia on my honeymoon during the last Olympics, and watching on a deck with a view of the ocean is a lot better than from my couch in Iowa. Oh well. I love the Olympics - always have. We watch just about anything - my husband especially likes the swimming. We have two girls from our area in the games this year, so we will of course be rooting especially for them.

I love the Olympics and I don't let the politics get in my way. Maybe that's short sighted of me, but that's how I am. Putting China in the spotlight this way may end up being a very positive thing. Who knows? My daughters are all very excited for the gymnastics. I love that and swimming, diving, and track and field. This should be great!

I like the basketball the best. Then the track and field.
