Let's Talk Horror

It is finally October, and in typical fashion, flying right by.

I wanted to do a sort of theme month where I review stuff appropriate to October, and I will be trying very hard to do that...delivering 3-5 reviews a week of things suited for this season. I know it's hard to believe me when I've been largely absent from the blog for awhile, but I hope I can come through!

This of course means more than ghosts or zombies or monsters...I've always liked the idea that it's just the darker themes we tackle during these months...so all is up for grabs! Mysteries, murder, monsters, dark thrillers, etc.

I'm a firm believer that horror doesn't equal scary by any means. I don't know why horror is one of my favorite genres when there's so much about the genre I dislike on the whole, including a great deal of violence towards women. But there is something about examining our darker impulses and seeing them for what they actually are that I like about the genre. And I love supernatural stuff because it's not real and tends not to scare me. :)

Of course, I have some other obligations that will lead to things off topic, but that might be more satisfying to some of you anyway!

How about you guys? What do you like to read in October? How do you feel about horror?

Amy
