The Sunday Salon: Seeking Your Assistance

June is halfway over and I still haven't started The Stand Lol, oh well.

I'm going through a major project of getting rid of books right now. I know I say that a lot, but this time it's like...MAJOR. I'm so tired of having so many books. I know that sounds terribly privileged, but it's true. And I think that it has become overwhelming to me in another way, I am almost incapable of reading anything because I have such an abundance of choice. I often feel quite agitated. I know, as well, that I'll almost always have an impulse to read new stuff so I really need to try to make room for that. And as ridiculous as it sounds, I think I'm finally realizing that owning a book doesn't mean I'll get any closer to reading it, so I really need to do a better job of utilizing a wish list.

Anyway, I've said all of this to say maybe you can help me a little bit! I'm going to list a few books I own and since you all know me pretty well, if you've read them, I'd love of you to tell me if you think I would like them. I've actually been looking up reviews and such to make decisions on some books. I'm really trying to cull my collection significantly. (there are actually quite a few factors that contribute to how hard it is to get rid of books including the guilt factor)

If this is successful, I might continue it on tumblr throughout the week. (I find I have to go through the books several times to make decisions, sigh)

Okay here goes!

  • Moon Called by Patricia Briggs

  • The Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

  • The Deanna Raybourn series starting with Silent in the Grave

  • Dope by Sara Gran

  • Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder

  • The Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine

  • Size 12 is Not Fat by Meg Cabot

  • The Annunciation of Francesca Dunn by Janis Hallowell

  • The Letters by Kazumi Yumoto

  • My Name is Sei Shonagon

  • Every Time a Rainbow Dies by Rita Williams-Garcia

  • I think that's enough to start! Please hit the comments and let me know. :)

In other bookish news, I finished The Great Gatsby, thus correcting that huge oversight in my education, and Code Name Verity which was just as great as everyone said.

    TV Stuff

I've watched the first two episodes of the second season of Borgen and the show continues to be wonderful. I plan to write more in-depth about it later if I can, if only because there needs to be more written about it in English. It's so bizarre to be living out this love in solitude, to be honest. But thanks to those of you who at least gave it a try.

It has inspired me to try watching The West Wing since they are compared, but...the comparison pieces I've read lead me to believe I won't like it as much. We'll see!

Also, Bunheads premiered this week...did any of you watch it?

I came across something written about the show's complete lack of diversity this week that's well worth a read.

Just a reminder that I'll be at ALA this weekend coming up so please let me know if you'll be there!

That's it from me! I'd love to hear how your summers are going and get your advice on the books.

    Amy
