The Sunday Salon -- Where does the time go???

I can't believe it's October 11th already! When am I going to have time to read all of my R.I.P. books? Well, for the past two years I've been wanting to read Ancestral Shadows by Russell Kirk, which is an anthology of ghostly tales. So when I realized how rapidly time was getting away from me yet again, I grabbed it off the shelf and read the first story, Ex Tenebris, this morning.

And it was perfect! Just the right kind of spooky story to start the day with. It's the story of an elderly woman living in a renovated cottage. Not everyone in the town is happy about it, though, one man in particular thinks her presence is a threat to his own plans. She happens to live next to an old broken down church and meets the vicar who takes up her cause. Only...the church hasn't been used in years and there is no vicar!

Great fun short ghost story to start the day with, I look forward to reading more.

In other news, they are saying that movie Paranormal Activity is really scary which makes me want to see it desperately, only it's not playing in my closest theaters. :( And next weekend Where the Wild Things Are finally opens. I really want to see it, but I am weary of the over the top promotion. I don't need to see a commercial every commercial break. I even dreamed about it last night!

I went to see two authors yesterday at Lifeway Christian store in Brea. It was my first time going to the only Lifeway Christian Store in Southern California! It was so fun and I have pictures but I can't find the cord thingy to connect my camera to my computer...as soon as I do, I'll post pictures and tell you more! (also Lifeway had the Downhere Christmas CD...yay!)

Don't forget tomorrow's the Fall Festival Recipe Exchange and Canadian Thanksgiving! Hopefully the Canadians will forgive me for not having it in time for them to try out some of the recipes for Thanksgiving!

Happy Sunday all!

Guess I'd better start digging up a recipe!

I want to see Where the Wild Things Are as well, but am a tiny bit nervous. With a lesser director, it could be a total disaster. I sure hope he doesn't screw it up!

Ex Tenebris does sound perfect for this time of year. I haven't heard too much about Paranormal Activity, I'm afraid. I don't know if I'll get to see it any time soon. If you do see it, be sure and let me know how it is.

I hope you have a great week, Amy!

I'm not planning to see Where the Wild Things Are (at least not in theaters)..... why did the screenplay have to make his parents divorced? Can't someone make films about kids in happy 2 parent families?

Eeek! I need to get back on that RIP thing - I still have two books I'm meant to read for that, and a book for another challenge that I have to finish by the end of October. How the time flies...

I have only read one book for the RIP challenge. I am halfway thru another but it's slow going! My blog update caused me to fall behind a bit. I need the next couple of days to catch-up and then I will be good to go. October is flying by!
