Book Giveaway: The Crimes of Paris

About the Book: Turn-of-the-century Paris was the beating heart of a rapidly changing world. Painters, scientists, revolutionaries, poets--all were there. But so, too, were the shadows: Paris was a violent, criminal place, its sinister alleyways the haunts of Apache gangsters and its cafes the gathering places of murderous anarchists. In 1911, it fell victim to perhaps the greatest theft of all time--the taking of the Mona Lisa from the Louvre.

Immediately, Alphonse Bertillon, a detective world-renowned for pioneering crime-scene investigation techniques, was called upon to solve the crime. And quickly the Paris police had a suspect: a young Spanish artist named Pablo Picasso....

It's been 16 years since I was in Paris for a high school trip but I remember really liking the Musee d'Orsay and the Montmarte area. But really the whole city was fun and beautiful.

Thanks for hosting the giveaway.

I've not ever been to Paris unfortunately; but if I were to go, I would go and see Jim Morrison's grave (The Doors singer) and I would want to see the Mona Lisa in person at the Louvre!

Thanks

Although I know, through my reading, that Paris teems with places of interest, I think one must visit the Eiffel Tower at least once.

Ahh, I LOVED Paris. My favorite part was just walking down the streets, no place in particular. I did quite enjoy the Louvre!!

Oooh, this sounds good. I've only been to Paris once, and while I loved all of the regular touristy spots, I really enjoyed the Museum of Natural History. It's still set up like a Victorian cabinet museum, and some of the display cards on some of the specimens were written by Cuvier or Lamarck themselves. It was like candy for a biology geek like me. :)

Thanks for the giveaway! fyrefly98 [at] gmail [dot] com.

I'd love to win a copy of this one, Amy! As if I need to add to my collection, but, hey, that's what die-hard bookaholics do, right? I hope... :)

I have never been to Paris but I would love to visit the Louvre and Versailles. I would also like to tour some older neighborhoods to look at the architecture style. To me that would be interesting.
