The Sunday Salon

Dearest Reading Friends,

I'm facing a crisis. I just finished Twilight during the Read-a-thon (complete thoughts to come!) and it's reawakened in me a desire to consume all manner of vampire books I can get my hands on. I actually have quite a few books in the TBR that I suddenly want to read right now, including New Moon of course.

But, of course, I have too many books that have been sent for review to do this. This is the first time since I've started reviewing books hard core that I've had this crisis. I don't have time for this, but my mind is rebelling against me. What to do?

Sincerely,
Amy

have you read JR Ward, Lara Adrian or Christine Feehan? That should help with you needing :D

All I can do is sympathize. I have a bunch of books I want to read, but I have some obligations to review others first.

It doesn't take too long to go through the rest of the Twilight series. But I understand your dilemma. I quit taking as many review copies myself so I can read what i want more often.

My mantra is that reading and blogging are a refuge and hobby and should be fun, not work. I vote for pulling a book off the personal TBRs to satisfy your craving, then try going back to the ARCs.

I am in the same situation, and have been for a couple of months. I've all but stopped accepting ARCs. I used to accept anything that I thought I would like and things I would like to try. Now, I simply have to be interested in the book to begin with. I have so many of my own personal books that I want to read. Will there come a time when I'm looking for an ARC and not have one? I can only hope. :) I'm not going to let them pile up like they are again, though.

Read what you want for a while. I've only had a couple places ask for a review by a certain date. Sure, they'd like them sooner rather than later, but later is better than never.

You could do like we're doing at The Well Read Child, ask for guest reviewers. Jill puts out a list of books, we choose 2-3, she mails them, we send a review to her, and then she posts and we cross post. I too am in the Twilight series...read New Moon and Eclipse for the Read-a-Thon and am 250 pgs into Breaking Dawn. Good luck with your dilemna.

I have a solution for ya. Send me all your books on your list that are tempting you and I will put them in my TBR pile. I am not a review blogger so I have no obligations. I can then enjoy them eventually. That way you can do your promised reviews in a timely fashion. Outta sight, outta mind! Just don't ask for your pleasure reads back anytime soon because it takes me forever to get thru a book. I am a slow reader!
How's that for a solution? HA! It sounded pretty good to me! :)

I had to check in to see what advice you've been given. I vote with the Book Lady, take a break to read what you want (or it will be calling you and interrupting your other reading), then get back to review books.

I haven't read the *Twilight* books yet, but from observing my daughter and her friends, I understand the draw!

Great advice all....I think next year I might slow down on review copies. I do enjoy picking what to read from time to time. ;)
