Welcome to Book Blogger Appreciation Week 2008!

We've nominated. We've voted. We've organized our giveaways and twittered and posted and now we are here!

It's time to feel appreciated!

The gloom and doom news tries to tell us that reading is dead, we say look at our addiction. We transform reading books from solitary activities to shared conversations through our blogs. We carve out extra time to share book club tips, interview authors, and learn about the technical aspects of blogging. Our blogs are like a part-time job and the only payment is the pleasure we get when someone takes us up on a recommendation.

This week, you will hear from the other side...the people our blogs help promote. And you'll get the chance to enjoy the reality that what we are doing is making a difference. You will have the chance to win books and prizes, the opportunity to speak out and the chance to make a difference in the lives of others. And we'll celebrate the blogs chosen by the book blogging community as the best in their categories. It's going to be so great!

To get us started...you may have noticed that the blogs you love best and appreciate didn't make the list of nominations! So today is your chance to thank them. Write a post thanking or highlighting the book blogs you love to read (be sure to link to them!) and then come back here and sign the Mister Linky. When using Mister Linky this week, please remember to add the link to your specific post and NOT your general URL. This will keep all of us happy. Also, please remember to link back to this specific post and not my general URL so that we can all easily navigate back and forth. Go forth and have fun! As an added bonus, three of the people who participate in this writing activity today will be chosen at random to win a copy of Allison Pittman's With Endless Sight. This giveaway will be open all day and winners will be chosen tomorrow.

Oops... sorry on the link. Let's try again.

I wrote about some book blogs that have a variety of types of books they review. I also included a general blog that does add some book reviews to it!

Oops, I should have put my blog name in Mr. Linky instead of my name. Oh well. I'm excited to see how the whole week unfolds with BBAW. This is such a fantastic idea and what a great undertaking! Thanks again for coming up with this!

Hi Amy,
Bravo, again, for masterminding this whole thing. I pledge to learn more about technical blogging by next year to be able to use the graphics, mister linky, etc., but in the meantime, here is my post:

APOOO Books is the premier book site/blog on
Black literature. They have the pulse of the black literary community. One can hear about upcoming books, interviews with author and consistent blogging about books.

Amy, you rock. What a great event, and I can tell it must have been (and continues to be) a huge amount of effort on your part.

I just found out about APOOO today, and I have to say - what a wonderful site! It's a great place to look for information on African American literature!

I posted a link to the blogs I read frequently and highly recommend. For all your paranormal enthusiasts and multicultural enthusiasts, I suggest checking out: SORMAG, Blogging in Black, Darque Reviews, Marta's Vampire Wire, Vampire Genre, Urban Fantasy Land, Midnight Moon Cafe, Sidhe Vicious Reviews and Bitten By Books.

Very awesome reads and some great book recommendations on those sites! I'd be lost without them lol.

Thanks for all the work that you and all the bloggers did. This was a great idea. Especially, us newbies, that would like to know about all the different blogs in cyberspace. I left a comment on my blog of my favorites.
Thanks for all that you have done.
