BBAW Guest: Megan Kelley Hall, Author

Book Bloggers Rock!

As most people know, the book review sections of newspapers are shrinking and in some cases, advertising dollars impact the selection of which books get reviewed, so what are struggling novelists and avid readers to do? Book bloggers are here to save the
day! For honest reviews and great book suggestions, book blogs are the place to
go to get all the info on what to read, what to skip, which authors are rock
stars and which authors need to get their head out of the stars (and come back
down to Earth!)

I was lucky enough to get some great reviews on my debut book, SISTERS OF MISERY, from some wonderful YA and Adult book bloggers. Since major mags have such a limited space to run reviews, book blogs are the perfect place to go to get real opinions and great reading suggestions. Some of the larger book blogs, like BookBitch, GalleyCat and Maud Newton are more well-known and established. But my experiences with smaller and up and coming bloggers and book blog sites have been amazing. At this time, I’d
like to proclaim my incredible affection and devotion to the following blogs
for their kind and wonderful words about my debut novel, SISTERS OF MISERY: Bookfinds,Mrs. Magoo Reads, E.M. Reads,  Nights and Weekends.com,  J. Kaye Oldner's Book Blog, The Story Siren, The
Book Muncher
,  BookBitch, Book Room Reviews,  Liv’s Book Reviews, Amber Gibson of TeensReadtoo.com, Fallen Angel Reviews,  Harriet Klausner,
BookLuver Carol’s Blog, Amateur de Livre, No More Grumpy Bookseller,  Jenn’s Bookshelf, Damian Daily,  Midnight Twilight’s Book Blog, Sam’s Book Blog, Arya: The California Writer, What Vanessa Reads, Michelle’s Minions, The Book Vault, Bean Bag Books, Berger Book Reviews and Beyond Books.

I am also looking forward to reading SISTERS OF MISERY and reviewing it on my blog. But I have to wait until I'm allowed to buy books again.

Thanks for letting me guest blog here, Amy! And I honestly am so appreciative of all the book bloggers who have taken the time to read and review my book. You have no idea what it means to me. When you are a debut author and have a small book come out without all of the marketing and advertising dollars behind it, you are COMPLETELY dependent on word of mouth and book bloggers to help spread the word. I've made sure to thank every reader, blogger and reviewer individually, because your reviews mean more to me than any big-time reviewers at huge publications. You guys have the power to turn a small book into a bestseller (look at what happened with Twilight! That was because of readers who fell in love with the story of Bella, Edward and Jacob and wanted to share it with all of their friends!) From now on, I'm going to be getting all of my TBR suggestions from you guys because of your honesty, your passion for books and your dedication to the authors that you love.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

This was really sweet Megan. I love getting new ideas for books from other book bloggers as well....and it's great to hear what they think, since they ARE the readers. :)

Hey Megan,
I haven't put up your formal book review on my blog yet. I'm waiting around... but I have lots more nice things to say about it because it was truly one of the best books I've ever read.

Thanks for having Megan, Amy.

:)
