Booking Through Thurday: Heroine

Who is your favorite female lead character? And why? (And yes, of course, you can name more than one . . . I always have trouble narrowing down these things to one name, why should I force you to?)

I think it's kind of funny that after I labored over the Thursday Thirteen post of favorite tv characters I get another favorite character question!

1) Hadassah of the Mark of the Lion trilogy. Love her. She's humble and tries to follow corageously after God, even at the expense of her romantic heart! ;) Thankfully, she doesn't have to sacrifice love and romance in the end!

2) Laura Ingalls of the Little House books. She was like a best friend while growing up, always mischevious and so strong hearted!

3) Nancy Drew. My friends and I used to "play" our favorite books when I was young...I was reading Nancy Drew books in second grade and always insisted on being Nancy. She was just too cool.

4) Trish Sakai of Only Uni. This is still fresh of the press, but it's been a long time since I've liked a modern day heroine so much. She's such a warm, hopelessly flawed but good intentioned character. With the overwhelming amount of chick lit and women's fiction that I read, I sort of have a love/hate relationship with the heroines. I want them to have all the best things, but they get on my nerves a lot. I'm much more sympathetic to the men in any book. Why is this??

Hmmm. Loved Little House on the Prairie books growing up -- wore them out! Still have my Nancy Drew books and can't wait to hand them to my daughter when she's older. I also loved Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With the Wind: talk about a flawed character that you rooted for anyway!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and entering the contest!

Cara, you know I've never actually read Gone With the Wind, I've only seen the movie fourteen thousand times. I have a hard time reading books after I've seen the movie. Thanks for coming by!
