What Would You Read With Me? (Need your suggestions!)

I'd like to do two more readalongs next year in April and October. In 2010, we read Gone with the Wind and Lonesome Dove. These are near perfect readalong epic fun delightful chunksters...modern classics if you will. I want two more books like this...any suggestions? I'd really prefer the possibility of American novels, but I'm at a loss. I eagerly look forward to your ideas!
