In The Bleak Midwinter: Day 5 of 25 Days of Christmas Music

Today I drove to LA to meet up with the other Southern California book bloggers. It was actually kind of chilly today which made me happy to listen to Christmas music. I listened to Jane Siberry's Child which is a beautiful and quiet CD, and I just really really enjoyed it. It's a live show from many years ago and she performs many older hymns that have gone out of fashion. But I just love her sensibility anyway.

I can't find the songs anywhere online, but I do love "In the Bleak Midwinter", a contemplative and pretty song. Since it was cold here today, it felt even more appropriate and seasonal. I'm going to post the Lorena McKennitt version, because it's the closest I can find to the style I like though it doesn't have the lyrics.

I am fond of the James Taylor version of this song. not quite as Celtic, but nice.
