The Vampire Diaries Pilot --What did you think?

Vampire Diaries
So now that I've coerced a bunch of you into watching The Vampire Diaries I fear you may have hated since I saw the feedback on Twitter!

I will be the first to admit that this show may seem like Twilight from the pilot but trust me that they'll be going a different direction!

Personally, I enjoyed it when I watched it at Comic-Con and enjoyed it again tonight. I really like vampires, though, and I can go with the sometimes difficult process of set-up. There wasn't much excitement in the pilot but here's what we know:

Stefan is a vampire who has a thing for Elena who looks like a dead girl in a picture and defends her in class with his vast knowledge of Mystic Falls. Elena is a sad teenager who is already dealing with death because of her parent's death and survivor's guilt. She's worried about her younger brother who is dealing with things in his own way by acting out. He has a thing for Matt's sister and Matt has a thing for Elena and oh by the way they've been friends forever.

Damon is Stefan's brother. Damon likes to drink human blood, can control the fog and apparently birds. He's come around to stir things up and make life miserable for Stefan. Stefan does not drink human blood and is therefore weaker and arguably not as good looking as Damon.

By end of show, Damon has attacked, and left a survivor who cries "vampire" and Elena is inviting Stefan into her home and into her life.

So what do you think? Do you think you can hang around long enough to see where this story goes?

I liked it and while it's been awhile since I've read the books and I didn't have a chance to read them prior to tonight, I have every intention of sticking around and watching. I think it's a great companion show to Supernatural which broke my heart last night and is looking to be excellent this season.

Talk about heart breaking! When Dean said what he said to Sam at the end.....tears. I expected a lot of bad stuff to happen this season, but I never expected that. How am I going to stand waiting a week for the next episode???

I would give the show a C+. It was a cross between Dawson's Creek and Twilight. Such a shame that I kept seeing so many Twilight influences while watching because the Diaries came out 15 years prior.

The only highlight was seeing Ian as Damon. Stefan was a big snooze and everyone was just so pretty with their hair.

VD (hehe VD) wasn't the worst thing I ever watched so I'll probably watch it again.

I liked it, but I think I need to read at least the first book. I felt like I was missing something. I made my husband watch it too! He didn't grumble, so it couldn't have been that bad. He was actually watching too because he kept asking me questions.

I thought it was ok. I needed to stop comparing it to the books since they pretty much changed everything. I'll keep watching since I know early episodes need to do a lot of setup for the rest of the series. Damon was so good looking!

I watched!!! I wasn't going to watch Vampire Diaries because I didn't want it to be so exactly like Twilight, but there wasn't anything else on and I'd watched all the shows I had recorded. So I did, and I'm glad! It was so good! I recorded Supernatural so I'm gonna watch it tonight =)

I thought it was ok too. I am definitely willing to keep watching. I only just started to read the first book last night. Already noticing the differences.

I liked it enough to watch more. I understand that the characters have to be introduced and the premise needs to be set up. Mr. BFR was less impressed but says he'll watch one more. I can't wait to read the books.

I've read the books and I doubt the show will be as good(they never are, well except for True Blood). The show seems to be good, but they changed a few things and that really made me mad-they got rid of Elena's other best friends, she now has a brother, and the worst thing is that Elena isn't blond =(!

I'm watching it right now but if it's going to be on on Friday evenings usually, I'll probably never get to see it again since I'm usually not home or the hubby has the clicker. I think I might like it if I watched long enough to care about the characters; sadly...

I really liked it. I've never read the books so in a way I'm better off I think. I think they did a good job with casting and Elena/Stefan have great chemistry. Of course I also loved Damon who is played by Ian. I'd watch a show he is on any day...hehe

Ok, so I was going through my Dashboard on Blogger and noticed the title of what you'd be watching last night. Eh, wasn't interested since it was Vampire Diaries. Not my thing. A few hours later I was flipping channels and totally forgot that the show was on. Well, there it was so I thought I'd just catch a glimpse before I moved on.

Well, I didn't move on. :) I have ZERO interest in reading "Twilight" and haven't read "Vampire Diaries". I'm glad because this is all fresh for me. I really liked it and when it ended I thought, "Crap, another show I'm going to have to fit into my life!"

As for the brothers, I found Stefan to be the cuties. Damon absolutely did nothing for me. I loved the brooding look in Stefan. The way he looked @ Elena, like he was looking into her soul. Hello big fella, you can look deeply into my eyes any day. *grin* Damon, eh, just not attractive. I was glad to go back to see that the pictures of what you were going to watch last night had the one of Stefan and not Damon. :)

Thanks for planting this seed in my mind.

It was okay for me. I'm willing to keep watching to see where it goes and it definitely has potential. But the thing that probably annoyed me the most about it was Stephan/Elena's relationship. There didn't seem to be much chemistry there. But I loved that Stephen defended Elena against Mr. Tanner and that Vicky is already in the show and bitten by the vamps (I always forget about her character).

My husband scored extra brownie points today by coming home with the 1st/2nd book combo and Mr. Darcy Vampyre for me. Yay! I started this afternoon!

I haven't read the books but I really enjoyed the pilot. Pilots usually suck anyway.

I'll definitely be tuning in next week!

I thought that Vampire Diaries was pretty good, considering all the vampire hype this year. Not quite as P.G. as Twilight and not as rated 'R' as True Blood; a good mix for prime time. I had read the series so I knew it would have a 'darker' plot to it. I think to judge on the pilot episode is not giving it a fair shake. People need to give it a season and we'll see. . .

I didn't watch it but after reading through the comments I'm thinking I need to hunt the pilot episode online so I can get caught up. It sounds like something I would really enjoy (esp the person who said it was a cross between Twilight and Dawson's Creek. I'll let you know what I think if I watch it.

I liked it. I haven't read the books so I have nothing to compare it to. I'll be tuning in next week!

My problem (and my husband's problem) with the show was the writing. It was just...not very entertaining. We were rolling our eyes and it really felt like Twilight part II. If you say that it isn't maybe we will try one more episode...or wait until DVD when we can give it more or a try!

Admitedly the pilot didn't grabe me as much as other shows (though that is hard to do out of the gate anyway since LOST isn't a show that one can really compare anything to) but I'm going to hang in and hope things pump up. for me the best part of the show is Damon (not just because of his Boone-ishness, LOL) but because I love me a bad boy and really that mystery and somewhat evil tendency brings something unexpected and unpredictable to the show. So even if that is the only reason to keep me tuning in at this point it's reason enough.

i liked the pilot. i noticed they changed some things but i kind of expect that nowadays so it doesn't bother me as much. i missed the second episode because someone stopped the dvr from recording it. i will definitely stick around and see what happens. i don't think stefan is as good looking as he is described in the book. i really like ian as damon and hope they feature more of him as the show continues.
