Robin Jones Gunn has another winner with Sisterchicks in Wooden Shoes. I sat and read this book in two days. What I love about these books is that I get to go on a quick, vicarious trip to places I may never go - the Netherlands being one of those places. Ms. Gunn not only takes us to visit the touristy sights, but we also visit the “spiritual” sites as well such as where Corrie ten Boon grew up. The trips usually involve two sisterchicks traveling together, but this time the main character, Summer, went to visit a penpal she had since the third grade. Now both were in their forties or early fifties and they are meeting for the first time. I love the history sneakily taught in these books, I love the scenery we can easily visualize, and I love the characters. They are gals I can relate to. I think these books would appeal to almost all women, especially those who are interested in travel.

I grew up on Robin Jones Gunn's books (Christie Miller), but haven't thought to go back to her as an adult! Thanks for bringing this book to my attention; I'd love to win a copy.
As for my dream vacation, I'd like to go back to London. I studied there and went back with some friends, but I would really like to visit with my husband and explore the city all over again with him.
My dream vacation would be to go back to Australia but explore more of the country; it's too big to see in 10 day esp when traveling with five children.

ONE of my dream vacations would be to tour the entire continent of Africa - from the Sahara, through the Congo, across the Serengeti Plains, Botswana and the Kalahari Desert, and the beaches (of course!)and Egypt and O.K. maybe this dream won't fit in just one comment!

My dream vacation is going to come true in August. My daughter leads a campus ministry at a university in Germany, and I'm going to spend 12 days with her. We'll spend the weekdays in the university town, then travel on the weekends to the Black Forrest, Switzerland and Austria. Can't wait!

Perfect vacation depends on who I'll be with.
For extended family on my husbands side: we rent a beach house every couple of years. 40+ people in one house (10 bedrooms) for a week - sharing cooking and cleaning chores, having fun and reconnecting - and leaving for home still friends - is pretty close to perfect.
