The Weekly Review: Week Ending May 9, 2009

Yesterday was my birthday and I ran out of time to post!

But I am now 29, which just doesn't seem real. How is that possible? I had a very nice day, though, lunch and dinner out and went to see Star Trek. I loved it a whole lot, it's the perfect summer flick. And I do realize it's not actually summer, but it sure feels like it here!

The geeks have really taken over Hollywood, with trailers to upcoming films including GI Joe (really?), Transformers (again), and Terminator (this one looks good). It got me very much in the mood for Comic-Con later this summer.

Anyway, there are a few links of interest I'd like to point out to you, once again, less than normal because I'm severely behind in blog reading...I don't anticipate getting caught up until after BookExpo America just so you know!

Faith
I am always thinking about God whether or not that comes through on this blog, and what I've been pondering lately is how we know God. I actually may write a post on this at some point, as a way to put all of my thoughts together. In any case, I really loved this post from Internet Monk called In the End, God Knows Us.

Books
My TBR pile is out of control and these bookshelves might help me!

Kristin is tired of Amish Christian fiction, but Kate points out the bonnet ripper books are just getting started in romance! (and yes the term bonnet rippers bothers me)

Strange Culture has a interesting series on the portrayal of real people on film, his latest spotlight is Ben Whishaw as John Keats.

LOST
Are you planning a LOST finale party? I sort of wish I had! Anyway, this article made me very excited to watch....Michael Emerson says the finale will make us eat our souls!

That's it for now....hopefully I'll have more worthwhile links for you next week!

Yes, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Amy -- and happy day after. Enjoy this 29th year (as I know you will), but know that the 30s are very special too.

I look forward to meeting you at BEA.

Happy birthday again, Amy! I'm glad you had a great day.

I'm totally shaking my head over "bonnet ripper".

Happy (belated) birthday, Amy! And if you end up making/using those floating bookshelves, let me know how it works out. I've seen a few tutorials about how to make them, but I've never heard from anyone who has actually tried it, with whatever level of success...

Happy birthday (again), Amy! Glad you liked Star Trek - we're seeing it next weekend.

Are you going to Comic-Con? I think it's the same weekend as BlogHer'09, so I can't do both, but my husband has been wavering about going on his own since I'll be in Chicago. Any advice for him?

Since we won't actually watch the Lost finale on Wednesday, no party for us either. But I think maybe there needs to be a plan for the REAL finale (sob!) next spring...

Happy birthday!

I don't think I could ever tire of Amish Christian fiction. It's some of my favorites novels. I haven't heard the term bonnet ripper yet. I'll have to go check that link out. :)

I meant to email you on Friday and say Happy Birthday, so here is Happy Belated Birthday. If I recall correctly, this particular birthday is a big one -- you've arrived!

Happy Belated birthday sweetie! Glad you enjoyed your day.
Also good to hear that a sci-fi fan likes the new Star Trek...I was a little concerned. JJ Abrams does everything really well. Still I had some trepidation, and I never listen to crtics. Just normal people like you :)
