Chunkster Challenge 09

I've decided to sign up for the chunkster challenge. I have a few books that need to be read that will fit nicely into this challenge, so I figured I could use a little extra incentive!

Here are the rules:

*A chunkster is 450 pages or more of ADULT literature (fiction or nonfiction) Don't complain folks, I read all thousands of pages of the Twilight series and they were good, but not a challenge. A chunkster should be a challenge.
*If you read large type books your book will need to be 525 pages or more I asked around and the average LT book is 10-15% longer or more so I think that was a fair estimate.
*No Audio books in the chunkster. It just doesn't seem right. Words on paper for this one folks.
* You may start any time after signing up. You must complete your reads before or on Nov 15th.
*Short Stories and Essay collections will not be counted.
*Books may crossover with other challenges (see option 4 for a collaborative effort with TBR challenge)
*Only option 4 requires that you make a set list of books to complete the challenge

I'm going for the option of Do These Books Make my Butt Look Big?
which requires that I read 3-5 chunksters over the next 10 months.

Head on over to the Feelin' Chunky blog if you want to sign up as well!

Oooh good luck! I struggle with chunky books. I think it's just a mental thing, like I know it's going to take me forever to read so I'm wary :S

I'm about 150 pages into a book of 1024 pages. But I almost would hate to count it, since it is a reworking, connecting three books of a trilogy into one constant story.

I've got another author who's final book may hit late this fall. They're always in the neighborhood of 600-700 pages, and since he is trying to finish the 12-book series with this one (and he's left a lot on the table) it may well go over 1000. But I know it's his last book, as it is being finished posthumously based on what he had already written and extensive notes he left.

That's a little too much, too soon, for me. I'm just getting back into a reading pattern and I'm not willing to make that much commitment.

Given the books that I'm reading, It would take the whole series to make a chunkster.

Good luck to you, and have fun.

Maybe it should more be said that chunksters like me.

But think of my poor back as I lug these books to work in my shoulder bag - with my laptop and other heavy items.
