Vampire Day Post 2: The Vampire Diaries Started It All

My vampire love affair started when I was in junior high with the books The Vampire Diaries by LJ Smith. I don't know how someone convinced me to read these books, but wow did I love them!

Honestly, I can't really tell you a plot synopsis or anything. I eventually traded in the books only to discover they went out of print and were going for ridiculous amounts on ebay. But then! The good news is that they've recently been reissued in omnibus editions. I am now rebuying all her books as they come out. I had hoped to have reread them for today, but it didn't happen. (My blogging eyes are bigger than my blogging stomach, so to speak)

And Jena...good news. The Forbidden Game (our favorite series, not about vamps but we've discussed these important issues on Twitter) is being rereleased in 2010.

My love for the Vampire Diaries made the Twilight phenomenon not seem strange to me even before I read the books....I mean, vampires make the best stories!

So....did anyone else love The Vampire Diaries or other books by LJ Smith?

(special thanks to Monica for the button!)

Yep....raising my hand here! We read them together, sitting on the floor before school talking about them! I STILL HAVE MY COPIES! A co-worker's daughter is into them now....She was going on about her daughter and "these vampire books". It kinda freaked her out, so she decided to read them along with her daughter and loves them. She was raving, but couldn't tell me the author, so she brought a book in the next day. Sure enough, L.J. Smith's Vampire Diaries!

I was going to ship mine to you, but as you've now re-bought them, I'll keep 'em (re-reading is so much fun!)

I was a big L.J. Smith fan. I gave the books away and have thought of picking them up to read again since the rerelease.

my vampire obsession was unwittingly started by my dad when he would let me stay up on friday nights until 12 am to watch Forever Knight, and then it was the Anne Rice novels and many others.

Absolutely hands down my favorite series to date! I've read the entire 4 part series at least 7 times... and i could just as easily pick them up tomorrow. I can hardly wait for the next book to come out!
