Fire, Fire, Fire

It smells like fire and smoke here. Even in the building. I hope I don't burn down.

The winds started this weekend, for me, at about 1:30 am. Strong, gusty winds that wouldn't let me sleep very well. I woke up Sunday feeling all congested and sick again...I blame the wind. I think it stirred all that dust and junk into my respiratory system.

So I feel sick. And people are losing their homes in alarming numbers. One headline read: fire is zero percent contained. Southern California which is at times beautiful is going to be wasteland. And where in the world are all these people going to go?

Maybe like Katrina?????????The friends we visited Sunday were evacuated this morning. The fires are VERY close to their home in the mountains.

Because of the horrible air quality, the children stayed inside today and we had a very short lunch and zero recess and P.E. We were with them around the clock. It was a l-o-n-g day.

I was just sitting here watching the news and praying for you, Amy, and for those 900,000 neighbors of yours who have been evacuated.

Thanks for the prayers Nancy. The winds seem to have died down here which is a huge answer to prayer, but the air is still really really thick with smoke. So far the fires haven't come too close to us, there was a small one a few miles away but they were able to put it out rather quickly.
I just feel bad for all the people who are working so hard to fight this and also all the people who have lost their homes. :(

wish we could send So Cal some of our rain. We are having the opposite problem here with flooding and landslides. . .

I wish we could do some distribution like that Leah! Send you our dryness in exchange for some rain.
