Hi Amy - don't enter me in the drawing ... I read/reviewed an ARC of *The Shiniest Jewel* and loved it. Truly heartwarming. It was my first graphic novel and I recommend it to anyone who has been curious about the graphic novel/memoir genre but didn't know what to start with. :)

I haven't the faintest clue on understanding my father and I'm not about to have kids to do it (in fact, he's a large part of why I'm not having kids. Reading for perspective and insight, on the other hand, I'll do.
ReplyDeleteI'm always interested in memoir and parent-child relationship issues (it's a large part of the non-fiction reviewed on my blog, in fact).
I have friends who've gone through the ups and downs of international adoption and I think I could relate to that. And my relationship with my father was bumpy. I'd love to find out how her mother resolves this for her. I read my first graphic novel recently and it was fantastic. It really does depend on a good story and this sounds like one. I love reading about people's personal struggles, and how they've grown through them. I always find them insprirational!
