Reverend Timothy Wright and his wife Betty. Weeks after their car crashed, he learned of her death from his hospital bed on Monday. The Rev. Timothy Wright, the Brooklyn pastor known as the "godfather of gospel," remains on a respirator but is conscious and alert three weeks after a car accident that killed his wife and grandson.
Wright, who is in critical condition at a Pennsylvania hospital, was informed of the death of his wife, Betty, on Monday, relatives said. His loved ones waited until his condition had improved to deliver the grim news. "It was rough, but he took it pretty well," Wright's son, David, said Saturday.
The family is hoping to move Wright, 61, a Grammy-nominated gospel singer, to a rehabilitation facility next week.
I watched it and cried. Cannot imagine going through that, and I totally understand how Mrs. Chapman just wants Maria back. Only by God's strength and grace to you survive something like that. . .
