Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay. --Robert Frost
I still love this poem. I know the challenge was to find a poem, but I wanted to share one of my favorites. I have bits and pieces of other poems memorized, but this one I know in its entirety.
Thanks to N.Vasillis for hosting this mini challenge.
You did great! It wasn't necessary to find a poem. Thanks for participating!
ReplyDeleteThere's something special about a poem you know by heart.
ReplyDeleteIn school, I had to memorize "Whose woods these are I think I know" and the first sixteen lines of The Canterbury Tales.
This is my husband's favorite poem!
ReplyDeleteBeyond the Night is fantastic. :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I have a few poems memorised, mainly in Russian (my two hundred level classes involved lots of poetry recitation) but some in English. I love memorising Longfellow. :D
ReplyDeleteThis is Ponyboy's favorite poem in The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.
ReplyDeleteDont' forget when you're all done reading and have had some rest stop by my blog to enter a special prize drawing for read-a-thon participants.
