My favorite time of year! (September through December)
I first noticed when I saw a seasonal Halloween shop on my commute home.
I second noticed when Walgreen was already displaying Fall/Halloween items.
Yes it still feels hot as the blazes outside. But the important thing is that it's coming....fa la la la la....
Not that there's anything wrong with having a "favorite time of the year"...
ReplyDeleteBut I think I've gotten to the point where my favorite time of the year is "today". I've now seen enough years come and go that I don't know how many more of them I'll see. So I'm always looking for the good in today, and hoping to live like it's the best day ever.
That's a great attitude to have.
ReplyDeleteI once had a lovely student in Japan who told me he was looking forward to fall because it was his favorite season. "But it hasn't always been my favorite season," he added. "When I was younger spring was my favorite season. As I got older, got married and worked on my career, summer was my favorite season. Fall is my favorite season now that I am retired, and I expect that some day soon, winter will be my favorite season." I have to admit I loved the way he identified his life with the changing of the seasons.
Anyway, I love all of the seasons and actually do look forward to the changing of them all. (except for maybe summer, simply because I don't like the heat) But appreciating today to the full has got to be the best way to live. Thanks for the reminder!
